Computer Desk
This desk is a project that I made for myself, I had previously been working off of an old (and very small) shaky desk I received for free. I wanted to build something industrial looking and very sturdy. It is constructed with 1 1/2” black iron pipe, 1 3/8” thick Birch block counter top segments, with a bottom mounted maple box for cable management, and a bottom mounted Birch shelf for a PC. This is a very large and heavy desk measuring 3’ x 6’ and weighing nearly 200 pounds, in the future I will likely build an upgraded, more elegant computer desk, and retire this one to be used as a heavy duty workshop bench.
Finished computer desk
Assembling pipe and fittings for desk legs
Counter top segment cut to the size I wanted (3' x 6') and legs attached
Adding topcoats of high gloss polyurethane finish. In the end I decided to scuff this up a bit for a less glossy and rougher look
Test fitting pipe for upper shelf
Cutting box joints and assembling maple box for cable management
Shelf attached and stainless steel pipe flange mounted to desktop to route cables underdesk
PC hanging shelf attached
Cable management box mounted
All wired up and ready for use!
